Community Support

“A community that values, uses, supports and loves its library is a community poised for the future.”

- Arline LaMear Former Mayor, Astoria Oregon

… a library for the 21st century… a legacy for generations.

Our present facility is a source of meaning and pride for us. Astoria's first library services were founded in 1892; the current building it became the library's permanent home over five decades ago. Our community is in need of a library whose infrastructure, services, technology, and access need updating.

By modernizing our iconic library, it will fully become the heart of the community Astorians deserve. Staff will be able to provide expanded services and exciting programs that nurture our children's development. It will provide a safe and welcoming area for our teens to gather, updated technology, increased collections. And as the oldest settlement this side of the Rockies, Astoria will finally be able to showcase and highlight our unique treasures, gaining the best access we have ever had to both contemporary and retrospective, unique archival and historical collections.
